Lavender Fields Alpacas Breeders

	Name: Lavender Fields' Lillie Gay DOB: May 25th, 2008 Sire: High Plains Aviator (Super Sam & Javier) Dam: Chocolate Peruvian Isabella Jaxon (Axtion Jaxon) What a great surprise we received this morning (5/25/08), Isabella (dark brown) blessed us with a beautiful little black girl, by our herdsire, Aviator (light fawn). Mom and baby are doing fine, and we've decided to name our first 'Year of the Painter' cria, Lillie, after Lillie Gay Torrey. Lillie was a painter during the first half of the 20th Century, who lived in Hawaii before it became a state. She specialized in decorative floral paintings. Our Lillie is the first black cria thrown by Aviator. Her dam has had two true black cria and one bay black.

	Name: Lavender Fields' Minnie May DOB: June 18th, 2008 Sire: Imaginary Farms' Monroe (Silver Charm) Dam: Lavender Fields' Penelope (Drambuie) Here's another surprise. Mate two greys together, and what do you get? Well, a black, or course. This is Penny's first cria, and a first for Monroe too. This is the first time he's had anything other than a grey with a grey female. Minnie is named after Minnie May Tingle, who was an accomplished pianist and poet, along with being a talented painter. She did a series of paintings of all of the missions of California. Minnie's fiber is like velvet. It has got to be the softest fiber any of our alpacas has ever displayed. It's got to be touched to be believed.
	Name: Lavender Fields' Cezanne DOB: July 11, 2008 Sire: Lavender Fields' Lancaster (Augusto, Victor & Hemingway) Dam: Marisole (Felix) What a surprise this little guy was. With the family background that he has, we would have bet you that the likelihood of him being anything but white was pretty slim. But, take a look for yourself. White, he is not. While visiting our daughter in France (school), we fell in love with the city of Aix-en-Provence. As did one of it's most famous resident's, Paul Cezanne. Need we say more?

	Name: Lavender Fields' Mary Cassatt DOB: July 20, 2008 Sire: Dundee's Primo (Bueno) Dam: Lavender Fields' Gabriela (Felix) Finally, a cria whose color is not a surprise. Mary was named after the Impressionist painter, and made quite an impression on the two of us. She's got beautiful while, crimpy, soft, dense fiber and is a combination of all the best qualities of her dam and sire. She looks to be the best white alpaca ever born at Lavender Fields. She's inherited the wonderful temperament that make her dam and sire favorites of Tsulan and I, and our friends and visitors. Please come out and see for yourself what this beautiful cria adds to the Lavender Fields' herd.

	Name: Lavender Fields' Matisse DOB: September 8, 2008 Sire: Crescent Moon's Sequoia (Legacy) Dam: Ilna (Oro) Named for the great French painter, Henri Matisse, our boy is a work of art produced by Ilna & Sequoia. He is their second cria, and this time, their magic helped to develop a Rose Grey boy with soft, fine fiber. Matisse is a long-legged and active little guy who can't wait to get into the show ring to "strut his stuff". Come visit our farm and take a look at this colorful little guy. Say Cheese!

	Name: Lavender Fields' Renoir DOB: September 9, 2008 Sire: High Plains Aviator (Super Sam) Dam: Peruvian Sierra MHA (Oro) Here's another reason why we were so happy with our decision to fly to Canada and purchase Aviator. Renoir's fiber is bright and, like his grandsire, Super! It's got wonderful character, and when I carry him back and forth to the scale for weighings, it feels like bumpy carpeting. It's already obvious that he's going to be a "chip off the ole' Aviator block". He's going to have that Super Sam head that is so well known North of the border. Born on his brother's 1st birthday (Shakespeare), Renoir required a name that represented someone special in this year's category (painters). Our Renoir should become a fine reflection of Pierre Auguste Renoir. Bravo Sierra!

	Name: Lady Li of Lavender Fields DOB: September 15, 2008 Sire: Nova's Black Knight III Dam: Lavender Fields' Courtney Talk about bloodlines!!! This little girl has got them. Bueno, Drambuie, Axtion Jaxon, Camilio and Chinchero. She's dark silver grey with dark front legs, and she's a fun little girl with very soft fiber, which is showing some nice character. She's named after the Chinese artist who originated painting on bamboo, Li Shi (Lady Li). She was born on a Monday morning thanks to our friend K. Lea Ginnodo. We needed to call K. Lea due to the fact that our little girl had her head turned under while she was looking in the wrong direction. She was probably watching for the next birth in the barn...

	Name: Lavender Fields' Georgia DOB: September 15, 2008 Sire: High Plains' Aviator Dam: Lavender Fields' Cleo ...which happened not 15 minutes after Lady Li emerged and started to get sternal and dry. Not to be outdone by any of our mom's, Cleo gave birth just moments after we thought the excitement for the day was over. This little girl is another combination of Axtion Jaxon and Super Sam, or in this case, Cleo and Aviator. Last year, this turned out to be Grisham, a wonderful little medium brown boy whose been strutting his stuff during the past year. But this year, the combination gave us a beautiful chocolate brown girl with that wonderful Aviator fiber. We had to find someone to name after the great Southwest artist, Georgia O'Keefe. Just like her beautiful paintings, our Georgia is a beautiful rendering created by Cleo & Aviator.

	Name: Lavender Fields' Degas DOB: October 9, 2008 Sire: Lavender Fields' Lancaster Dam: Lavender Fields' Ginger Last, but not least, is Degas (day-gah). Named for Edgar Degas, another really talented French painter, and last of this year's crias. Unlike his sire, he is not white, but like his dam, at least at this moment, looks to be a nice medium fawn. Degas is a fun little guy who is getting more and more curious. His fiber is very nice, and like his sire, is looks to have the same qualities of his Augusto, Victor, Hemingway and Peruvian Challenger bloodlines. Next year's group of artists has yet to be determined...any suggestions?
